About the P&C
The Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) is a group of parents and community members who work in partnership with Charleville School of Distance Education to support students and strengthen the school community.
The P&C provides a forum for parents and community members to contribute to the life of the school and to work collaboratively with the Principal and staff in a supportive and advisory capacity.
Research consistently shows that positive parent involvement contributes to improved student engagement and success at school.
Purpose and objectives
The purpose of the P&C is to promote the interests of the school and support its ongoing development and improvement by:
- encouraging parent and community participation
- fostering positive relationships between parents, students, staff, and the wider community
- supporting initiatives that enhance student learning and wellbeing
Functions of the P&C
In accordance with the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 and P&Cs Qld guidelines, the P&C may:

- provide advice and recommendations to the Principal on matters relating to student wellbeing and school operations, in line with departmental policies
- assist in providing financial or other resources for the benefit of students
- undertake other functions consistent with legislative and departmental requirements
The P&C does not manage the day-to-day operation of the school. Final decision-making authority remains with the Principal.
